South East Field Days at Lucindale SA – 15 & 15 March 2019

AVA loves country field days! We spent Friday and Saturday at the South East Field Days in Lucindale talking to people about the hazards of asbestos – it is always interesting to hear people’s stories. We had a lot of fun with so many children coming to the stand for the Yakka Trail.

Asbestos Victims Association will be at the South East Field Days

AVA volunteers will have a stand at the South East Field Days at Lucindale on Friday and Saturday this week – that’s Friday March 15 & Saturday 16 March. Stop by and see us if you have any concerns at all about asbestos. This year Sue from South East Asbestos will be joining us – a good opportunity for some hands on advice. We will be participating in the children’s Yakka trail and hope to see you there.

Home renovations – know what you’re dealing with

Before you start work renovating an older home that may contain asbestos, think about the people who may be affected: you and your family, mates who come along to lend a hand, maybe even your neighbours. Never use power tools on suspect materials or a high-pressure hose to clean an asbestos roof. It is estimated that one third of all homes contain asbestos – if you are not sure what you are dealing with, seek professional advice. It will save time and money in the long run, and more importantly, reduces your risk of developing an asbestos related disease.
